Applied Intercultural Linguistics (B.A.)

Study content:

The degree programme includes the acquisition and development of practical language knowledge and skills in three foreign languages: English, a Romance language, as well as a third language that is usually to be newly learned. In addition, it imparts theoretical, methodological and factual knowledge with the aim of developing transcultural communicative competence. Students acquire a variety of application-oriented competences in preparation for their later careers. The compulsory elective area allows students, among other things, to take advantage of offers from other degree programmes, as well as to include internships and stays abroad in order to set their own priorities.

Special features

Stay abroad: Students of the Bachelor Applied Intercultural Linguistics are recommended to spend one (or more) semesters abroad during their studies in order to solidify and extent the language and intercultural skills they have acquired in theory. At the start of their studies students must already have acquired skills in and knowledge of English and one romance language (French, Italian or Spanish) on level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
